Mr Oseloka Obaze, a key political ally of Mr Peter Obi, former presidential candidate of the Labour Party, (LP) has dumped the party.
Obaze, a former Secretary to the Anambra State Government, Oseloka Obaze, served as Obi’s campaign manager during the presidential election.
He expressed concerns over the party’s handling of internal affairs and protested the conduct of the April 5, 2025, governorship primary in the state.
He lamented that describing the exercise was fraught with irregularities.
His decision was contained in a letter addressed to the LP Chairman at his Ochuche Ward 406, Ogbaru Local Government Area.
According to Obaze: “By virtue of this letter, I hereby tender my resignation from the Labour Party (LP).
“The processes, conduct and outcome of the Labour Party governorship primaries held on April 5, 2025, in Awka, were fraught with outright irregularities, bothering on fraud and criminality.
“It was not in tandem with either the party’s Constitution and espoused core values or true tenets of democracy. As such, I hereby disassociate myself henceforth from the Labour Party.”
He also cited the leadership crisis at the national level of the LP and the party’s failure to resolve the rift between Julius Abure, the party’s factional chairman, and Nenadi Usman, the caretaker committee chair.
