Tension as bandits abduct Catholic priest

Bandits have abducted a Catholic priest, Rev. Fr. Ibrahim Amos, in Kurmin Risga, Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

NATIONAL POST reports that the development has thrown residents of the area into anxiety.

The Chancellor of the Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, Rev. Fr. Jacob Shanet, confirmed the abduction.

He disclosed that the priest was whisked from his residence at St. Gerald Quasi Parish, Kurmin Risga by suspected gunmen in the early hours of Thursday, around 12:15am.

He described the development as a deeply saddening one.

“We solicit your prayers for his quick and safe release.

“We invite the general public to remain calm and avoid taking the law into their own hands,” he said.

The Kaduna State Police Command is yet to react to the report.
